Labelling, marking and batch coding
Contract cosmetic labeling is a critical phase in product finalization, where application accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance must be fully ensured across the entire supply chain.
Plan|B manages labeling activities on primary packaging, secondary packaging, and logistics units, integrating these operations within structured processes that involve the entire cosmetic supply chain.

What the service includes
We apply labels on containers in direct contact with the product — bottles, jars, tubes, sticks, mascaras, glosses, and powder containers — ensuring:
- precise positioning and alignment;
- proper adhesion on different surfaces (smooth, curved, soft-touch);
- management of wrap-around, front/back, and multi-layer (peel-off) labels.
We apply labels directly on cartons, boxes, gift sets, and kits of any type and format, including:
- identification and descriptive labels;
- tamper-evident and security seals;
- batch coding and expiry date marking (inkjet, laser, thermal transfer).
We apply labels on cartons and logistics units to support:
- batch traceability;
- warehouse management and picking operations;
- shipping and distribution.
We work with a wide range of label types, depending on technical and product requirements:
- self-adhesive labels (paper, PP, PE, PET);
- transparent “no-label look” labels;
- multi-layer labels (booklet, peel-off);
- labels resistant to oils, solvents, and aggressive products;
- labels with special finishes (matte, glossy, soft-touch, metallic).
Contract cosmetic marking and batch coding are essential to ensure full product traceability across the entire supply chain, from production to distribution.
We code primary packaging, secondary packaging, and logistics units, integrating these activities within cosmetic packaging and logistics processes to ensure accuracy, readability, and full compliance with regulatory requirements.
We code primary packaging, secondary packaging, and logistics units, integrating these activities within cosmetic packaging and logistics processes to ensure accuracy, readability, and full compliance with regulatory requirements.
We use a range of coding systems, selected according to packaging type, material, and production line speed:
- inkjet (CIJ and TIJ) for high-speed marking on various surfaces
- laser marking for permanent and highly resistant coding
- thermal transfer (TTO) for films, labels, and flexible materials
Marking activities include:
- production batch number
- production date and/or expiry date
- PAO (where required)
- internal identification codes
- barcodes and variable codes for logistics management
We operate across a wide range of substrates:
- primary packaging: bottles, jars, tubes, sticks, powder containers;
- secondary packaging: cartons, boxes, sleeves;
- logistics units: cartons, cases, and shipping units.
Regulatory Compliance & Cosmetic Requirements
We manage labeling and marking/batch coding activities in full compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, which defines the mandatory information to be displayed on cosmetic products, including:
